7 Months of Slacking

Well, sort of. My life became really busy during the year and my focus slipped, <insert generic blogger apology here> etc.

I'll be attempting to keep on track from now on despite my lack of an audience (which strangely hasn't bothered me).

Stuff is inbound in the future.

Going against the Odds: 1/8192

Since my last post (which didn't follow the schedule, go figure) I've gotten back into pokemon. And when I say back I mean for the first time properly. I've played through a few games before but they were all borrowed from friends. So last week I picked up Soul Silver and White and have been having a good time. But I'm not going to get into specifics now like my parties for each game or what have you.

Readers who know a bit about pokemon more likely than not (owing to the post title) know what I'm try to do at the moment. On my current playthrough of Soul Silver  I am going after a Shiny Pokemon. For the uninitiated a shiny pokemon is just one of a different colour which also has a shine animation when it enters battle. That's it; nothing special besides bragging rights. The chances of encountering said Shiny is (as you should've guessed by now) is 1/8192 or 0.01220703125%. Now for the target.

This is what I'm after.

This is what keeps showing up.

Now it may seem a bit obsessive, but I've never seen a Shiny on a game that I've been playing save for the Red Gyarados which doesn't count. So I thought why not try for something relatively big for my first. Catching it isn't a problem, I have the master ball for that, and I don't particularly care about nature as I'm not a competitive battler. All I can really do now is pray to the Random Number Gods as I constantly Soft Reset.

If and when I do run into it (and catch it) I'll probably post a pic or something as proof. The sprites shown here are from Bulbapedia (awesome resource for novice and expert trainers alike) and are owned by Gamefreak/Nintendo. Wish whoever reads good luck in their future endeavors, whether it be Pokemn related or something more akin to reality.

Have a good one.

Haiku Set #1

Recently I rediscoverd some old stuff that I did during school. The writing isn't that bad so I thought I'd share a snippet of it.

--- #1

They gave her a task

They said there would be a cake

The cake is a lie

--- #2

Nothing is sacred

This planet has been defiled

By us heretics

--- #3

Is anyone there

Can you here my muted words

Are you listening

--- #4

Individuals

Who choose to follow the herd

Are they still called sheep

--- #5

The world is not flat

Nothing could be more insane

It must be a cube

--- #6

Time is relevant

Only to those who wish it

Also strangely me

--- #7

All humanity

Condemn their own past mistakes

Yet we still make them

--- #8

Great minds think alike

Yet so do the minds of fools

So which one am I

Hope you enjoy.

The Beginning of an Era

Welcome one and all to Intentionally Arbitrary. I'm Alex and I will be your host for today, as well as every other day for that matter. First things first; some general info in an faq style.

Q: What's with the name?
A: I tried to come up with a catchy name that would encompass most of what I plan to post here. Seeing as the content will span multiple topics I decided to go with something to reflect the random nature of my plan. Intentionally means on purpose (seeing as the broad cover of topics is intentional) and arbitrary means without relevant reason (relating to the nature of my posts being about nearly anything). Therefore, Intentionally Arbitrary.

Q: What kind of content will you have?
A: As I said before I might post about anything at all. I will however have a slight focus on amateur literary pieces of mine, things about gaming, philosophical musings, maybe a rant or two if I'm angry enough.

Q: So, how will you organise everything?
A: Every post will be relevant to some sort of category, a list of which can be found in the sidebar.

Wow, short faq. Anyway, that raps up the first post. Questions are always welcome but remember to keep it family friendly and within the post's context.
